I have worked with Don Hiester many times, and find his approach and execution old-school, with a positive attitude and a creative bent to doing quality work. He does not accept mediocre performance and his workmanship reflects his experience and professionalism.

Replaced 9 interior doors (basement door, bathroom door, bedroom doors and closet doors)  The job went great. all of the doors look fantastic and there were no additional fees from the estimate I received

Don's company was referred to me and I am so happy I chose him. I purchased a new home and Don adjusted and hung interior doors for me.
He was extermely precise, professional and a pleasure to deal with. That's hard to come by and then (on top of all that) the price was right! He is a hard worker and very accomodating. The doors look great and work perfectly (he was dealing with an old strcuture). I would highly reccomend him to anyone for handyman work and will definitely be using him again for future projects

Don built walls to separate our foyer from our living room, making two spaces out of one and using the old living room as a study. He installed two sets of French pocket doors, a built in cabinet, shelving and crown molding. He also retreaded the staircase with treads and risers, spindles as well as a custom wood railing.
Member Comments: It went SO well from beginning to the end of the job. Don provided a very detailed estimate, arrived for the scheduled estimate and was on the job everyday for a month. He was so easy to work with and helped us by suggesting various ways to proceed with the job. It was nice to know of the all the options and we even learned alot along the way. He made sure the shelving was appropriate strength for the heavy items we needed to place on them.

Our study, even without furniture and paint, is my favorite room in the house! I love the pocket doors and having more useful storage with the built in cabinet. My old carpeted stairs are now an updated oak with very clean lines and the new railing is nice and sturdy!

I actually work in the home improvement field myself and it's still so hard to find a contractor as reliable and conscientious as Don has been from beginning to end. He has alot of pride in his craft and it definitely shows. He was very professional, reliable, skilled and productive. I would HIGHLY recommend calling on Don Hiester.

Don, was friendly and professional from beginning to end. He arrived at the agreed time, gave a fair estimate, followed up with me by phone, called the morning of the repair to confirm his arrival time and showed up in time. I really appreciate his good communication skills, he did a fantastic job at a good price. I can not wait to work with him again.

A storm door was replaced in the back of my house. The door was custom ordered because the door opening was not a standard size. The old door was removed, new door installed and new trim.
Don, was extremely reliable, he did the installation and trim work exactly as it was proposed. It was a custom door and it looks beautiful. Don, was professional, very clean and all the trash was removed.

Looks matter, but most homeowners want entry doors designed not only to impress but also to perform well for years to come. And that’s why more and more builders,
remodelers and homeowners are turning toward fiberglass and away from traditional materials like wood and steel.
“Steel doors dent, ding, scratch, rust, corrode and often need to be repaired or replaced after construction is complete,” said Bill Pagryzinski, R&D Manager at Therma-Tru’s Advanced Technology Center in Edgerton, Ohio. “Fiberglass clearly outperforms even high-quality steel doors, especially when it comes to their performance over the long-term.”
Engineers at Therma-Tru’s Advanced Technology Center put Therma-Tru fiberglass entry and patio doors through a battery of sophisticated tests to ensure every fiberglass entry and patio door system it manufactures can stand up to weather and other factors. They carefully evaluate air infiltration, water penetration, mechanical performance, finish integrity, thermal transmittance and security performance, all in accordance with standards of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Insulated Steel Door
Institute (ISDI).

One of the tests conducted at the Advanced Technology Center is the “missile impact
test,” in which a nine-pound wooden beam is fired from a cannon directly at a fiberglass door slab. The strong performance of Therma-Tru’s fiberglass doors in this test means drastically reduced callbacks during construction – a huge benefit in time and cost savings to builders and remodelers. In another test of door finishes comparing fiberglass and steel, engineers created a simulation of the effects of prolonged exposure to salt fog. After 144 consecutive hours of testing, conducted in accordance with ASTM B117-03, a high-quality steel door with
a factory-applied finish clearly had lost its sheen. Therma-Tru’s stained Fiber-Classic® door, however, looked as good as ever. See “Steel Beater” on Page 2 Fiberglass: The Steel Beater

Engineers tested the finishes of the two doors for 144 consecutive hours in accordance with ASTM standard B117-03. While there are no test standards specifically for fiberglass doors, Therma-Tru tests to the standards established by the Insulated Steel Door Institute.
